Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Mission Statement and Guiding Principles

The Silver Spur Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee's mission is to acknowledge, embrace and celebrate each individual in their uniqueness, and foster a sense of belonging in an environment where students come from all walks of life. We promote solidarity, and educate students with open eyes, hearts, and minds. We cultivate a culture of kindness and acceptance, where people of all backgrounds, experiences, cultures, race, abilities and identities feel safe, welcome, heard, respected, valued and empowered to reach their full potential.

Guiding Principles:

• To develop awareness in the areas of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and take direct action through relevant activities and programs.
• To support members of the Silver Spur community in the process of maintaining an equitable environment.
• To connect, bridge perspectives, inspire, and gain a greater understanding of each other and our world.
• To create a caring learning environment, where students' individual needs, emotions and strengths are supported.
• To realize that everyone has varied perspectives that help us evolve, act, and build momentum for lasting change within a diverse world.
