Letters from the Principal

Dear Parents of Silver Spur TK and Kindergarten Students:

Welcome to Silver Spur and to the 2017-2018 TK/Kindergarten class!!!! On behalf of our TK/Kindergarten teachers, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all of you. I hope you had a wonderful Summer full of fun and learning and are now getting ready to begin the academic year.

I would like to invite all of you and your TK/K children to join the PTA and TK/Kindergarten teachers on the Kindergarten yard on Friday, August 25, 2017, from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m. for our Annual Kindergarten Tea. This will be an opportunity for your child to meet his/her teacher and spend a little time in his/her TK/K classroom with future classmates. Parents will have the opportunity to meet other TK/K parents.

The first day of school is Monday, August 28, 2017. This day will be a minimum day with dismissal at 11:45 a.m. for TK and 12:00 p.m. for Kindergarten. On that day, please bring your children to the kindergarten playground by 8:15 a.m. Teachers will be ready to welcome your child. I know that for many little ones this might be their first school experience and for some parents it might be hard to leave their children. However, I am asking you to please leave your child in the care of his/her teacher by 8:30 a.m. At that time, you may join other Silver Spur parents and myself for coffee and treats in the MPR for a short morning program.

As a former kindergarten teacher, I know how the first day of TK/K is very important, and it is sometimes an emotional transition for both parents and students. Over time, we have found that the best way to ease the transition from home to school and make children feel safe and secure in their classroom environment is to have parents leave quickly, even if the child is emotional. Our TK/K team is exceptional. Please know that your child could not be in better hands with these four amazing and passionate TK/K teachers.

Our very dedicated TK/K teachers have been working hard in preparation for the first day of school and we are looking forward to a very wonderful and successful year with your children. We look forward to meeting you and your child/ren on Friday, August 25, 2017, at 2:00 p.m.

Warmly,
