Math in Focus and Reflex Math

In the Spring of 2015, Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District adopted and purchased Math in Focus. This program is an authentic Singapore Math® curriculum—with problem solving as the center of math learning and concepts taught with a concrete–pictorial–abstract learning progression through real-world, hands-on experiences. Beyond the digital learning tools and apps that are native to the core program, Math in Focus® offers a complete online teaching and learning environment for Grade 1–5 students. Math in Focus supports the goals of the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics, is research-based and focuses on classroom learning, discussion, and practice. It also balances conceptual understanding, visual learning, and problem solving.

To supplement the Math program, all grade levels at Silver Spur use Reflex Math. This program helps students of all ability levels to develop fluency with their basic facts in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
