CAASPP
Dear Parents/Guardians:
The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) is the California state academic testing program. CAASPP is a system used by staff to ensure that all students are making progress and that they ultimately leave high school ready for college and career. The CAASPP Summative Test is configured into the California Dashboard, which shows how districts and schools are performing across multiple measures.
Students in grades 3-8, and 11 at all PVPUSD school sites, will take the CAASPP tests in English Language Arts/Literacy (ELA) and Mathematics. Students in grades 5, 8 and 11 will also take the CA Science Test.
You and your child(ren) can view the practice test online at the California Department of Education (CDE) Smarter Balanced Practice Test located at:
Following Spring 2020 CAASPP testing, individual student score reports displaying CAASPP results will be available for review through the Aeries Portal (a PDF report will be available for parents/guardians to download and print, as paper reports are no longer available for distribution from the state). Scores in the Aeries Portal will include an overall score and a description of the student’s achievement levels. Parents/Guardians will be notified by email when results are available for viewing. Results from the CAASPP assessments will be used, along with other available data, to determine the impact of classroom instruction, adopted curriculum/programs, and to make other instructional plans for improvement. If you would like to excuse your child from a specific test, you must submit your request in writing to the school principal with a parent/guardian signature. [Education Code 60615.] Please let the school know as soon as possible so alternate arrangements can be made for your student during the testing windows.
