Welcome to Mrs. Nagdev's fourth grade class! 

A Bit About Your New Teacher...

Hi there! I am so excited to meet each of you and get to know you throughout the year. This is my ninth year teaching at Silver Spur and my twelfth year teaching Math and Science in PVPUSD, and I still get butterflies every fall! I absolutely love both subjects, and I have a special passion for fourth grade. My hope is that your children will catch some of that enthusiasm and discover confidence, curiosity, and excitement in their own learning.

In our classroom, learning is active, engaging, and hands-on. In Math, we work to meet students where they are while also encouraging them to think deeply, persevere through challenges, and become increasingly independent. Our goal is not only to build strong academic foundations, but also to help students develop the skills, confidence, and responsibility that will prepare them for middle school and beyond.

Beyond the classroom, I love creating opportunities for students to discover their voices and develop as leaders. As the Advisor and Administrator for our Student Council, I enjoy weaving leadership experiences into our everyday school community. There is nothing quite like watching a student surprise themselves with what they are capable of accomplishing!

I am also passionate about sustainability, innovation, and teaching about how "green" programming and thinking can help us create a better future and protect the Earth. As Chair of the District's Sustainability Committee, I am proud of the role our Silver Spur students have played in helping lead conversations and initiatives across the District. Our fourth graders are often wonderful examples of what it means to lead by example, think creatively, and recognize that even small actions can make a meaningful difference.

My path to education was not a traditional one. I spent much of my twenties working in other industries before finding my way to the classroom, and, looking back, I think education was where I was always meant to be. I earned my B.A. from Antioch University, with a focus on Nonprofit Management and Urban Communities, and gained experience in both the public and private sectors before completing my teaching credential at Cal State Dominguez Hills in 2009.

Early in my teaching career, I worked with primary-aged students in Manhattan Beach Unified School District and also served as an Intensive Behavior Interventionist trained in ABA practices. Those experiences continue to shape the way I approach teaching today and have given me a deep appreciation for the many different ways children learn, communicate, grow, and succeed.

In 2023, I completed both my Administrative Credential and M.A. in School Leadership through Cal State Dominguez Hills. These experiences have expanded my opportunities to serve our educational community, including my role as a Principal for the Palos Verdes Peninsula Summer School program, where I have the privilege of working with students and teachers from across our beautiful peninsula.

Outside of school, I am the proud mom of two amazing eleventh graders, one at PVPHS and one at PVHS. They are often my unofficial focus group, and I am constantly bouncing ideas, projects, and activities off them to see what really resonates with students! I was born and raised in El Segundo, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be raising my own children near the beach and surrounded by the beauty and strong sense of community that make the South Bay such a special place.

At the heart of everything I do is a belief that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, supported, and empowered to grow. I care deeply about helping students recognize their own strengths, develop empathy and confidence, and understand that they have the ability to make a positive difference in the world around them. My goal is to create a classroom where students feel comfortable taking risks, learning from mistakes, asking questions, and discovering just how capable they truly are.  Ubuntu!

Here's to a wonderful year with the Fourth Grade Class of 2027! I cannot wait to get started and am so excited for all that we will learn, create, discover, and accomplish together.
