3/24 Summative Activity - Chapter 5

Here is cute little Snuggles Tannouse in his custom built cat palace!
*********************************************************************
We will not be taking a pencil / paper test to culminate chapter 5 of the science textbook. Instead you will complete a summative assignment of your choice to show what you know.

Look at the list below and decide which of them you will complete and submit by this Friday, March 27. Your activity needs to be well thought out, detailed, and based on what you have learned in this chapter about Earth's Weather.

If you do just one or two parts each day, you will have everything finished by Friday quite easily. This is the only work I am assigning you to do from today until Friday. Your finished product should reflect the time you should be taking each day to complete it.

When you are done you may email your finished product to me. If you choose the picture book, you can take pictures and send those to me via email as well.

Choice #1
Power Point - Create a Power Point about chapter 5. Your criteria for this Power Point should be as follows. You should have, at minimum, 1 page per lesson. Each page should include at least 4 vocabulary words from that lesson that you think are the most important. A Power Point should be just the "big ideas" of each lesson without being super detailed. You can include bullet pointed lists, pictures (either plucked from the internet or maybe even snaps from your journal?), and appropriate diagrams if you so choose. Use your creativity and design each page in whatever way you thinks best to show the information.

Choice #2
Prezi - Learn something new! This presentation tool is like Power Point but looks different and has a lot more movement. Here is a tutorial if you are interested in trying it out. There are lots of templates to choose from. Click "Basic" at the top of this page and it's free! You should use the same criteria as the Power Point presentation.

Choice #3
Kids Picture Book - Create a children's picture book about Earth's Weather. It should have illustrations and words that explain about the subjects in each of the 5 lessons of this chapter. You have seen MANY picture books in your life! It should be in color. It should be neatly done. You should have one page for each lesson in the chapter.

Choice #4
Write an Essay - By now you know how to do this quite well! You should have a short introductory paragraph, 5 body paragraphs (one for each lesson), and a short conclusion. Your body paragraphs should be at least 4 - 5 sentences each.
