Last week we ended our study of the solar system with a tour of the International Space Station and saw how astronauts live in a weighless, free-fall environment. So interesting!
We will now launch (see what I did there??) from a study of our solar system into what actually makes up our solar system and EVERYTHING in it. Seems like a lot doesn't it! Well, it actually isn't.
All things in our universe are made up of just 118 "ingredients".
Even though there are so few, the way that they are combined together is what creates
every kind of material that we know of.
The "recipes" that nature and people use to create all matter out of the 118 ingredients is what we will be learning about in the rest of our science book this year. We will learn about the states in which that matter exists and how it behaves.
