4/10 & 4/13 Friday & Monday Build a model of the layers of the sun!

Lulu Stark just got back from the groomers and doesn't want to mess up her perfect bow!
Prepare for the Thursday / Friday lab this week!
At the end of the week you will be conducting a lab about the relative brightness of the sun and stars.
In order to do the lab yourself you need the items in the list below.
If you don't have these items it's fine! I will post a full version of the lab that you can follow along with instead of doing it yourself.
  • flashlight with a beam of light that is round
  • a ruler, yard stick, or tape measure that uses inches
  • a dark room in which to do the lab
  • a pencil
  • printed copy of the x/y graph - or a version of it you have made yourself if you don't have access to a printer
In case you missed it yesterday...go ahead and correct your spelling from this week.
Page 46 has many different answers so you can skip that page.
Just correct for 47 - 48, which are here.

Starting today you will be working on a project that you will start today and finish on Monday.
If you finish it today, great!
If you finish it on Monday, you will work on spelling in addition to what you need to finish for this assignment.

Make a model of the layers of the sun!

This week, you have been learning all about this sun, how it works, and how big it truly is!

Today you will begin working on a model of the sun AND a bullet-pointed list telling about the unique features of each layer.

There will be two options for this assignment.
If your printer works then you can do Assignment #1.
If you don't have access to a printer then you can do Assignment #2.

Assignment #1
To start, print out pages 4-5 of the document below.

Take a look at the last page of the file. It shows how to put together the layers of the sun with the labels. You may use crayon, colored pencils, or markers to give it color.
Create the model on the left hand page of the next two blank, facing pages of your journal.
Give it the title "Layers of the Sun".

On the right hand side of the two facing pages, you will list each of the six layers of the sun and, under each, list three facts about each layer that you find interesting.
Give this page the title "Facts About the Layers of the Sun".

Assignment #2
Instead of creating the pop-up model of the sun using the printed PDF pages, you will create a similar model, only drawn. Please use crayons, colors pencils, or markers to create a picture model of the layers of the sun. You may use your science book for inspiration or pictures you find online. Make sure to label each layer.

On the right hand side of the two facing pages, you will list each of the six layers of the sun and, under each, list three facts about each layer that you find interesting.
