Yellow Class 2:00 Zoom Session Today!!!
Before our Zoom class this afternoon print out the two worksheets below.
If you don't have a printer then have your journal opened to the next empty page so you can reproduce it.
Make sure to have both of these for our class this afternoon.
We will do them together!

Dimitry Mendeleev
Whoooooo??????
Actually, he was a very important guy!
He invented a way to organize all known elements into a chart based on their shared properties.

Watch the beginning of this video to learn about his life.
STOP AT THE 5:06 mark
unless you REALLY want to know a lot of detail about the periodic table.

Periodic Table Blocks
Today you are going to learn to read a block of the Periodic Table.
Each block has four pieces of information in it.

To begin, print out the worksheet below OR simply reproduce it on the next empty page of your science journal.
You will need to have it while you watch the video below.

Click on the video link for a lesson on how to read a block on the Periodic Table.

As soon as you are done watching the video, flip your paper over (if you printed it out) OR go to the next page of your science journal. Make one more block for a different element on the Periodic Table that shows the Atomic Number, abbreviation of the element's name, the full name of the element, and the Atomic Mass.

Make sure to pick one from the top part of the table...otherwise you'll be drawing protons, neutrons, and electrons forever!!

Then, create a model of that atom with the correct number of protons, neutrons, and electrons.

Let me know if you have questions! I'll see you at the 2:00 Zoom this week!
